Senior Designer
As part of an embedded UX team within Google Store, Dallas contributed to rethinking the end-to-end purchase experience for Google hardware. Her key focus was the product configuration experience for Pixel devices, as well as solely leading and designing the AT&T wireless activation experience for Pixel.
The Problem
The old Google Store configuration experience was composed of a series of single pages or “steps” for each product configuration attribute. This experience increased user friction as it contained a generous amount of clicks to get through the configuration funnel, as well as did not provide the user with a comprehensive overview of their previous configuration choices.

The Solution
After much user research, the solution with the least amount of pain points was to create a flexible single page configurator for all Google devices. The most complex product configuration condition was that of Pixel phones, so the config system was designed based off of this most complex use case then scaled down to fit more simple products. This system lets users focus on one decision at a time while still maintaining the ability to review past choices, easily edit them, and understand the dependencies of how their current choice may impact future choices. This system also allows users easily be able to dynamically see how their choices at each stage impacts the total product price.
Single Page Configurator
The single page configuration experience gives users the clarity and context they need to make a big purchase. At the end of the configuration flow, users have the ability to scroll up to review all previous decisions to ensure they are making the right choice for them. If any step was missed along the way, users have the option of editing any previous choices such as changing storage size or adding a trade-in. By the time users are ready to hit “Add to Cart”, confidence has been built to take this step by having the ability to review all of their customizations all in one place.
